The Research Advisory Committee oversaw the development of a Pigs Research Program. 26 projects are currently at various stages of progress. They focus on a range of priorities that have been identified including SRRP, PCV2, PFTS, Brachyspira and other diseases.
While most of these projects have been planned to continue until March 2013, some have been completed and these results are already in technology transfer.
Another very important component of research initiatives is that of the PSAB postdoctoral fellowships. These scholarships bring young scientists into the industry and engage them in important research related to swine health. This expands the frontiers of knowledge and enables breakthroughs that can lead to benefits for Canada whether on the farm or across the industry.
